CESA 10’s Foster Grandparent Program received a small grant to run a summer reading program at our local library. The summer reading program will emphasize the relationship between senior volunteers and the children they read with. The volunteers will focus on the enjoyment of reading to promote lifelong learning and continued reading for pleasure throughout children’s lives. The children will benefit from this experience academically, creatively, and socially/emotionally. The senior volunteer will benefit through a sense of purpose and fulfillment, social interaction, and community engagement.
