Osseo-Fairchild School District April Referendum 2024
Message from the District Administrator
Welcome to the Osseo-Fairchild School District's dedicated referendum webpage. As we approach the conclusion of the current operating referendum this year, I want to provide you with important information regarding our upcoming Operational Referendum on April 2, 2024.
Our district is committed to fiscal responsibility, striving to balance our budget through grants and partner donations to support existing programs and introduce new initiatives. Despite these efforts, the state's budget formula struggles to keep pace with inflation and federally mandated programs, leaving us no choice but to continue to pursue operational referendums. It's important to note that this challenge is widespread, affecting over 50% of districts statewide, all seeking referendum support from their communities.
On the April 2, 2024 ballot, taxpayers will find a four-year operational referendum question. The District is seeking $1.6 million for the first year and an additional $400,000 in each of the subsequent three years, effectively replacing the current retiring operating referendum.
This funding is crucial to address budgetary challenges, sustain valuable student programs, attract and retain high-quality educators and staff, meet technology needs, and prioritize building safety for students, staff, and community. Furthermore, it ensures that the facilities our communities have invested in continue to be well-maintained.
Your support in this endeavor is instrumental in maintaining the excellence of our educational offerings and the overall well-being of our school community. We sincerely appreciate your commitment to securing a bright future for Osseo-Fairchild students.
